First You Said, "No"

My Love, you first said "no" in Woods Cross park,
A firm "no" to my love, and my vain heart,
Happ'ly you said "no", too, to him at dark,
when the officer offered us to part.

Sitting on your sofa, our next reprise,
Closing the case, you push away my ring,
and again said "no", avoiding my eyes,
What should I do with that unwanted thing?

On Valentine's yet again, love denied
I thought of returning my gold trinket
I thought of placing my heart's love aside
but hope's not lost until all have lost it.

Finally at this altar, dressed in white,
Hand-in-hand your veiled "yes" gave love respite.
